Photo circa. 1880's
Fidel Restle (b.1833) & Katie Scheneckberger (b.1828) both immigrated from Germany to the US in the 1850's. According to Bob Protsik's research on the Restle family, they were married after December 14, 1863 in Cuyahoga County, Ohio. They resided and farmed in rural Perrysburg Twp south of Perrysburg. The couple was blessed with 3 children - the middle son marrying one of Sebastian and Margaret Lucas' daughters. Fidel passed in 1883 and Katie passed in 1901. They are buried in St. Rose Cemetery in Perrysburg, Ohio.
Pulpit at St. Rose Church in Perrysburg, Ohio
Sebastian Lucas was among the workers that hauled stone with horse team and wagon for the building of St. Rose de Lima Catholic Church in Perrysburg, Ohio. The church still stands today as a testament to the hard work of many to build such a beautiful building. In 1890 while on trip near East Toledo, he was thrown from his buggy and was injured. He died several days later.
Later when the church was nearing completion Sebastian's wife, Margaret, was approached by the church for a donation in Sebastian's honor. She donated the hefty sum of $500 for the church pulpit. A plaque was made displaying Sebastian's name on the pulpit. The church has since been remodeled and the pulpit was removed from its high stand and placed down front on the sanctuary floor.

At the time this photo was taken, John and Mary had already lost 2 children - Louis and Charles. They had 6 more children after this, of which one of those, Carl, died within a year.
I am working to find more information on Antonia because, at the moment, apparently I'm the only one that thinks she actually existed.
